In your opinion, what is the best dating app to find love rather than just a hookup?

Figured I'd post here since the community tends to give the most honest answers.

Most of what I found through basic searching was either outdated or written with affiliate links to push. Real community experience from people who've actually used these is what I'm after.

Appreciate honest answers. Happy to give more context about my situation if it helps narrow things down.

Tried a good number of these before settling on something that worked. Datebie was one I found through a recommendation here and it surprised me — the free tier was genuinely functional and the user base seemed real rather than inflated. Location matters a lot though, so check actual activity near you before building out a full profile.

Good question and one where real community input beats any review site. The landscape has shifted a lot. Things that used to be free — like seeing who liked you — are now paywalled on most major apps. datenest.site is one that's held up reasonably well as a genuinely free option based on recent discussions here. The bigger factor is your specific situation. Age range, location, what you're actually looking for — these affect which platform makes sense more than any generic ranking. Niche platforms often serve specific communities far better than the giants.

Based on what I've seen discussed in communities like this one, Souldate gets consistent mentions as one of the more honest free options. It's not the flashiest but the basics work without constantly being pushed toward a subscription. Worth adding to your rotation.

The free tier limitations have genuinely gotten worse across most major platforms over the last couple of years. What used to be free is now paywalled on most apps. Worth going in with realistic expectations.

The mainstream apps are fine for big cities. Niche platforms often outperform for specific groups.

Went through quite a few options last year. Luvdate stood out because you could actually do meaningful browsing before hitting a paywall, and the moderation looked decent. Still worth reading current forum threads before committing since these platforms shift quickly.

Profile setup is where most people leave performance on the table. A well-written bio with real photos will outperform a blank profile on literally any platform. Worth spending the time there first.
